Generation noir. is back in the new year and super happy to present you this outstanding line up!

Kælan Mikla (Rejkjavik, Iceland)

Tapped by The Cure frontman Robert Smith to play his edition of Meltdown Festival would be a pretty amazing feat, but for Kælan Mikla, it’s just another day. Indeed the death-rock turned post-punk trio from the heart of Reykjavik has been turning heads since they formed five years ago in 2013.

2018 especially was a wild year for the band, after euro tours with Drab Majesty and King Dude, shows at festivals like Roadburn, they now released their third and brand new record "Nótt eftir nótt" which is an mesmerizing and unique experience.

This very own mixture of postpunk and synthwave just catches and captures you and doesn't let you go anymore. The floating basslines, the etheral vocals, the engaging synth - it's unreal.
This feeling is very similiar to the one you'll have when you see this act live. Be prepared and let yourself fall go in this dark mess!

Some Ember (Oakland / Berlin)

"Submerging the sun" the second LP by Some Ember, is a journal of climatological grief, intimate vulnerability, and transcendental sadness. Self-produced by songwriter Dylan Travis, the record’s sparse arrangements are weighted by bleak ambience and dramatic vocal turns. Icy synthesizers pierce veils of fog-like drones, delivering sorrow and catharsis. Tides of dissonance ebb to reveal glittering mirages of hope, which are just as soon swept away.

Long a fixture of the Oakland, CA musical underground, Some Ember has seen many forms – a solo dream pop bedroom project, a four-piece goth rock outfit, then a hardware-based synth duo, and now a solo performance project once more. Following cassettes on Crash Symbols, Night-People and Ascetic House, the band released their first LP on Dream in 2014. In 2015, Travis and longtime collaborator Nina Chase made the move to Berlin. After a tumultuous two years (which saw a further cassette released on Dream, “DEBTS OF LOVE”), the band released SUBMERGING THE SUN on Third Coming Records in November 2018.

Mala Herba (Vienna / Den Haag)

Mala Herba is a solo project of a sound artist and queer music activist Zosia Hołubowska. Based on traditional music, magic and demonology of Eastern Europe, Mala Herba explores queerness and sex-positivity. Powerful, witchy vocals are weaved into hypnotic beats, cold base lines and romantic synthesizer melodies. There's something gothic and dramatic to it but nevertheless "this" makes you dance. Sometimes the melody cracks, the voice becomes a magic spell and the song transforms into a noise soundscape. But then the arppegio kicks back in and your bones resonate with the italo-disco inspired bass and rhythm.

After the release of the highly praised first ep, features on compilations and shitloads of shows all over europe in 2018 this will be one of the few chances to see Vienna's favorite Queer-witch live in 2019.
New songs and outfits included. Get there early and don't miss this!
